With graduate degrees in law and accounting, Chris will apply his knowledge and years of experience to your family law matter from the first meeting until your case is resolved. A life-long resident of Columbia, Chris has built a reputation as a caring and strong advocate for individuals during their times of need, and has been selected by his peers as a Super Lawyers Rising Star.
An experienced litigator, Chris focuses his practice in family law, and understands that all family law matters are very personal, often filled with heavy emotion. Chris feels a special purpose to help people when they need it most and takes pride in working on behalf of his clients. He has experience in a wide variety of matters, including litigating cases to finality in front of civil juries and the Family Court and briefing cases for the SC Court of Appeals. In Family Court, Chris has handled contested and uncontested divorces, successfully pursued and defended claims for alimony and child support, secured temporary and final orders of child custody, and handled numerous adoptions and name changes.
No case is too big or too small. Chris understands that when you’re facing a situation that leads you to hire an attorney, that situation is perhaps the most important matter in your life. Chris works hard to give each client the individual attention he or she deserves, and is aware that many clients are consumed by thoughts of losing their children or life-savings in a divorce.
Chris values the trust his clients place in him, and seeks to treat each individual as his only client by being accessible and responsive. He views his role as a divorce lawyer to be both an advisor and advocate. While he prepares every case as if it will go to trial, Chris understands there is value in resolving cases on the client’s terms. He strives to keep his clients continuously advised of all potential outcomes so that they can make the best-informed decisions regarding their case. In doing so, he has earned a reputation as a caring advisor to his clients and a straight shooter with opposing attorneys.
